At the top: what is only for children of defenders.
Besides camps and programmes, this list includes cash payments from city and regional councils to children of defenders who were killed, went missing or are held captive. Each community adopts its own payment, so the amount, who qualifies, where to apply and which documents are needed differ — all of it is stated on each programme’s page. If your city or region is not here, that does not mean there is no payment there: we add a programme as soon as we find the council’s official decision. Who counts as a child of a defender?
Usually children of combat participants, of people disabled as a result of the war, of those missing in action or held captive, and of those who did not come home. The exact list depends on the programme and is always stated in the organiser’s conditions.
What admission benefits does such a child have?
The state allocates funds every year to cover tuition for children of defenders in vocational and higher education, alongside subsidised study loans, free textbooks and a place in a dormitory. The terms are set by the Cabinet of Ministers for each academic year, so check the current rules with the institution’s admissions office.
Can the child get a free camp or recovery stay?
Yes. Children of protected categories, including children of defenders, are entitled to free places under the state recovery programme, and charities fund part of the camps. State places are arranged through the local children’s services department.
