Good to know
Short projects and year-long placements, work with children, animals, nature and heritage. Most organisers cover accommodation and meals, sometimes travel too.
Age is the real limit: there is far less on offer below 16, and international programmes usually start at 18. Every card states its age range — check that before anything else.

From what age can a teenager volunteer?
In Ukraine, formal volunteering starts at 14 with written parental consent, and some organisations take volunteers from 16. International programmes such as the European Solidarity Corps and SCI workcamps usually start at 18, with a few strands for 16–17. Each card states its age range.
Does volunteering cost money?
Participation itself is usually free, and the organiser often covers accommodation and meals. Travel may be at your own expense, and a few international networks charge a joining fee. Where there is a cost, it is stated on the card.
What does it give besides experience?
A certificate that exchange programmes and universities abroad recognise, real language practice in international projects, and a clear line on a CV. For many teenagers it is also a first trip without parents.
