Good to know

School in the country

School is compulsory in Germany for all children — usually from the year a child turns six, mostly for nine years. Children who do not yet speak German can start in classes for newcomers: in early 2025 almost a third of Berlin’s 8,551 pupils from Ukraine were in “Willkommensklassen”. Source

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from “Going abroad”?

“Going abroad” is for children travelling from Ukraine: exchanges, scholarships, olympiads and camps that involve a trip. This collection is for those who already live in another country: classes and camps that local organisers open to Ukrainian children, Ukrainian Saturday schools, help with language and school.

How do we sign up?

Every card leads to the opportunity’s page on Dityam.com.ua and from there to the organiser’s site, where registration, conditions and the language of classes are given. Dityam.com.ua takes no commission and collects no applications.
