A theatre course for younger children (5–7) and middle-aged children (8–12) from the Ukrainian Crisis Centre in Ireland. Classes once a week, 40 one-hour lessons. Location: Dublin, Ireland. Course Programme

  • What is theatre — types of genres and everything about the acting profession
  • Stage positioning — concept, positioning of characters on stage and their interaction
  • Actor's imagination — developing figurative imagination as a key quality of an actor
  • Body work — overcoming muscle tension and using the body in acting
  • Vision — learning how to make the audience see the world through the actor's eyes
  • Supertask and through-line — understanding these terms and identifying them in a performance
  • Stage speech — exercises for the speech apparatus, working on diction and pronunciation
  • Memory and attention — exercises for developing focus on tasks
  • Tempo-rhythm — studying the concepts of "tempo" and "rhythm" as important elements of acting craft
  • Études — improving acting skills through exercises with imaginary objects
  • The art of improvisation — studying improvisation concept and techniques

Format and Conditions

Classes take place once a week, each lesson lasts one hour. A total of 40 lessons. The course runs two groups: younger group (5–7 years old) and middle group (8–12 years old).

The course is aimed at children who have recently moved to a new country or are adapting to a new environment, as well as at children who are open and expressive and need direction for their energy. Training helps children open up, build confidence and develop creativity.

Taught by Oleksandr Groza, a Ukrainian who moved to Ireland about two years ago and is seriously pursuing acting.
