Programme in 2026

UNICEF implements four types of humanitarian cash assistance for families with children affected by the war:

  • Multipurpose cash assistance following attacks and mandatory evacuation: provided to families affected by missile strikes and mandatory evacuation from frontline areas. Each household member who meets the criteria receives UAH 12,300 per person to cover basic needs for approximately three months.
  • Emergency cash assistance for child protection: provided to families with children directly affected by attacks using explosive weapons, if at least one household member was injured or killed. Provided as part of child protection case management services.
  • Winter cash assistance: to support households with children during the winter period.
  • Assistance for orphaned children: through Ukraine's state social protection systems and the Humanitarian Account.

How to receive assistance

Families may be identified in cooperation with local authorities. UNICEF and its partners assess whether a family meets the established criteria. Not every family affected by an attack or evacuation will receive assistance, as funding is limited.

Partners

The programme is implemented by UNICEF in partnership with the Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Youth Integration of Ukraine and local authorities.
